Should I upgrade to security hinges on my exterior doors?
If the hinges are on the outside, yes. Non-removable pins or set screws stop the hinge side being an easy way in, and it is inexpensive compared with everything else you might do to secure an entry.
What makes hinges squeal?
Dry or worn pins, and sometimes grit in the knuckles. In Fultondale the doors that squeal first are usually exterior doors, because moisture strips the lubricant and starts surface corrosion inside the knuckle.
How do I know which hinge is the problem?
